Doc 404
Doc 404 Update: Broken Link Sources, Redirect Validation, Bulk Fix & More.
Doc 404 is a Shopify app that tracks broken links and 404 errors in real time and fixes them with redirects. The latest update (July 2026) introduces broken link source tracking, smarter redirect validation, an improved bulk fix, sortable tables, and more. Here's what's new:
๐ Broken Link Details & Traffic Sources
Every broken link now has a View details panel showing exactly where visitors came from โ internal pages, search engines, or marketing campaigns (including UTM parameters). You'll also see the number of hits, when the link was first seen, and when it was last tracked. Now you can tell which broken links actually cost you traffic and where to fix the root cause.
โ Redirect Destination Validation
Doc 404 now checks every redirect destination you enter โ on Broken Links, Redirects, Wildcard, and RegExp pages. If the destination URL itself returns a 404, the app flags it right away, so you'll never redirect visitors from one broken page to another.
๐ ๏ธ Improved Bulk Fix
The bulk fix flow got a cleaner redesign: selected broken links are grouped into a single block, the redirect fields are easier to scan, and validation runs before the redirect is created. Fixing dozens of broken URLs at once is now faster and safer.
โ๏ธ Sortable Columns
Columns in the Broken Links table are now sortable โ click any column title to sort AโZ or ZโA, just like in the Shopify admin. Sorting was also added to the Wildcard redirects page.
๐ Date Created Column
All redirect tables โ URL Redirects, Wildcard redirects, and RegExp redirects โ now show when each redirect was created, making it easy to find and review recent changes.
โก Shift+Click Multi-Select
Select a range of items with Shift+Click on every list โ Broken Links, Redirects, Wildcard, and RegExp redirects. A small thing that makes bulk operations much quicker.
๐งน Cleaner Tables
Internal URLs in tables are now shortened to the path after the first slash (external links stay full), and the delete and view details actions sit directly in each row instead of hiding behind a "three dots" menu. Less clutter, fewer clicks.
๐ New Onboarding Setup Guide
New users are greeted with a step-by-step setup guide: activate the app, visit a test broken link to see live tracking in action, fix it with a redirect, and optionally enable automatic redirects. From install to first fixed link in a couple of minutes.
